Where to Dine Out on Valentine’s Day 2015 in Boston

Where to Dine Out on Valentine’s Day 2015 in Boston

Dining out on Valentine’s Day can always be hectic. Reserve ahead this year at any one of these fantastic options in Boston and save you and your sweet heart all the trouble.

If you’re not really in the loving mood this Valentine's Day, Area Four in Technology Square is the best place for you. From 5 to 10 p.m., you can dive into Arrabiata “angry” pizza, jerked chicken, and irate rice, or skewered lamb neck with garlic green beans. The evening is run à la carte, so come in solo or with a group!

One of the top spots on The Daily Meal's list of the most romantic restaurants in Boston 2014, Bastille Kitchen is a sure bet to impress your date this Valentine's Day. Executive chef Adam Kube presents lovers with a three-course menu featuring chestnut-parsnip soup with wilted rose petal laced in (yes, you read that right), beet Parisian gnocchi, seared striped sea bass, and a duo of beef. Beet crème brûlée and chocolate mousse are options for dessert. Make a reservation at Bastille and indulge in an evening of French-inspired cuisine, service, and décor — who says you have to be in France to eat like the French?

Also named one of The Daily Meal's top romantic restaurants, Bistro du Midi is a perfect spot to celebrate your loved one this year. Chef Robert Sisca and sommelier Todd Lipman have a five-course menu inspired by the French countryside. With an oyster amuse bouche to get you started, dive into butter poached lobster, Nantucket Bay scallop, or cocoa-crusted venison. Slow-cooked lamb belly, foie gras terrine, Perigord black truffle potato gnocchi ($25 supplement), and seared duck breast are also among the options. Finish with a decadent chocolate mousse, a surefire way to anyone's heart. This menu is available Thursday through Sunday of Valentine's weekend for $125 a person, and wine pairings are available for and additional $75.

Chef Chris Coombs heats things up at his popular steakhouse Boston Chops in the South End. A three-course menu includes braised beef agnolotti, duo of beef, and a wide range of cuts with the usual sides and sauces. Order from their extensive wine list to add to your evening and finish with mocha chocolate cake or lemon tart. The menu is priced at $99 a person with options to add items à la carte from the raw bar, and reservations are required.

Bring your sweetheart to Coppa in the South End this Valentine's Day. James Beard Award-winning chefs Ken Oringer and Jamie Bissonnette have prepared a special three-course menu with all the love presented in dish after dish of delicious Italian treats. Start with zucca passata (a kind of Italian pumpkin hummus with pomegranate) or scallop crudo, then move on to fan-favorite Lady and the Tramp spaghetti and meatballs, and end with a delectable olive oil cake with pistachio gelato. The menu is $55 with an option to add wine pairings for $35, with an additional and highly recommended cheese course available for $15 a person. Reservations highly recommended.

If upscale, authentic Mexican food is your thing, Rosa Mexicano has you covered this Valentine's Day. Indulge in a four-course meal with your date and begin with guacamole prepared tableside followed by an appetizer, entrée, and dessert of your choosing. Options include lobster flautas or wild shrimp ceviche, chile poblano relleno, or beef short rib enchiladas. End with churros accompanied by a trio of dipping sauces, or deep-fried ice cream. Reservations highly recommended.

For something a little different, hop in a time machine this Valentine's Day and reignite the excitement of Prom with your sweetheart. On the 14th of February, Tiffani Faison hosts her annual 'Valentine's Day Meat Market' at Sweet Cheeks and this year, it's prom night gone South. Singles and couples are welcome to dress in old prom getups to enjoy a barbecue dinner followed by dancing and, of course, sipping on spiked punch. Tickets are required and can be purchased here for $75. This event is 21+ and begins at 8 p.m.

Hidden in the depths of the South End, speakeasy Wink & Nod is a solid Valentine’s Day option for food enthusiasts. Currently under the culinary direction of executive chef Joshua Lewin and sous chef Kate Holowchik of Bread and Salt Hospitality, dinner reservations are available from 5:00 to 9:30 p.m. on Valentine’s Day for an extra special Chef’s Tasting Menu. From diver scallop, to monkfish, to poached lobster, to beef sirloin, and short rib as well as an optional cheese fondue course, and, of course, dessert, your evening will be full of romance-inspired dishes. In addition to this $85 prix fixe, a $20 dessert tasting is also available from 9 p.m. onwards.

Some lovely dishes to try out for Valentine’s Day dinner

Thinking about surprising your partner with a Valentine&rsquos Day dinner? Well Valentine&rsquos Day and dinner plans are kind of cliché but they work really well with each other and hence they are sure to be success if you get the planning done properly.

There are a lot of things that you can try out for a dinner like this. If you are not sure about your cooking skills, you can go for Best Steak Delivery Online or you can whip up something really simple at home! The ideal combination would be to order a few dishes and make a few on your own! Well here are some great dinner ideas that you can try out for Valentine&rsquos Day dinner:

  1. You can always go for a seafood starter if you want to kick off your valentine&rsquos day in style. One of the most easiest dishes that you can try out is a prawn cocktail. With no cooking involved, apart from just boiling the prawns, all you need to do is make the sauce and the dish is ready to be served. This treat is best served cold in a martini glass, so that you can enjoy your prawn cocktail. Make sure that you garnish it right.
  2. No Valentine&rsquos Day dinner is complete without some desert and hence you can opt for strawberry cheese cake. If you want you can go for the no bake recipes or if it seems too much of a trouble for you, then you can always order one at home so that you can enjoy it nicely. If you want you can opt for flan or custard as well if you want to stay away from cakes.
  3. Another dish that you can surely try out for a grand Valentine&rsquos Day dinner is a stuffed chicken roast. These take some time to prepare but once you have the stuffing ready, it is really one of the easiest dishes to cook. This is again another dish that you can order if you want at home and enjoy it some homemade mashed potatoes and boiled greens. Combine it with a glass of red wine and you will have your dinner table full of Valentine love ready for your partner! Just do not forget to light the candles.
  4. If a nice juicy beef steak is your thing then get in touch with one of the Online Steak Delivery Restaurants and pre order for these goodies, because they will surely be in huge demand. This is also best enjoyed with creamy mashed potatoes and vegetables and it works well with both red and white wine.
  5. If you want to keep it simple and light then you can always opt for something Chinese. Get fried rice or noodles along with some starters and a side dish. Chinese is light and hence you won&rsquot have any digestive disorders the following day. Just make sure that you order the dishes that both of you love.

Now that you have such great dinner ideas to try out for Valentine&rsquos Day, what are you waiting for? Try them out now!

Ponzu

Rachael Piorko

Sushi is always a good idea. One of the best places to get sushi is Ponzu. The sushi is excellent and my personal fav when I'm feeling down. If you don't like seafood, they also have vegetarian options which are just as yummy. The best part about Ponzu is that they deliver through GrubHub, a food delivery service, to wherever your heart desires(fitting right?).

If you're more of the burgers and beer type, you'll be happy to know that Park Burger (and their Parmesan Truffle Fries) want you and only you to take them home.

I'm fairly certain Burrata tastes how being in love feels. The ultimate treat your self meal, North's Italian specialties won't let you down, and they pair extraordinarily well with wine and your sofa.

Just because you're single doesn't mean that Valentine's Day has to be a pity party. Grab one of these delicious restaurants for take out, show yourself some love, and have a HAPPY Valentine's Day.

Dining Out on Valentine’s Day in San Antonio

This is one ‘date night’ you don’t want to leave up to the last minute! Here’s our starter list for trendy spots to get you inspired to wine and dine on Valentine’s Day in SA…

Boudro’s on the San Antonio River Walk is one of the city’s most iconic restaurants. If you’ve never been for their legendary Tableside Guacamole or a Prickly Pear Margarita on their gorgeous patio, now’s your chance! This ultra-romantic spot is rich in regional heritage with a distinctive menu that features wood-grilled steaks and southwestern specialties like their longstanding Duck & Sausage Gumbo . For Valentine’s Day, Boudro’s has a special pre fixe menu that highlights their Black Angus beef tenderloin filet with lobster tail, sautéed asparagus and a creamy lemon risotto…plus dessert!

I’ve been a reoccurring face at Piatti for years now. The new location at Éilan is stunning. Here you’ll find sustainable and locally-sourced ingredients in a vibrant atmosphere – a commitment to high quality Italian. Goodtaste has the recipe for their Heirloom Celebration Panzanella Tomato Insalata [below] – a specialty salad for when the season calls! Their 3 Course Pre Fixe menu on Valentine’s includes an appetizer (soup, salad, etc.), your entree, and dessert for $45.

Silo now has 3 locations in the Alamo City, plus sister restaurant Nosh (oysters, specialty pizzas) – one of my local faves. No word on the menu just yet, but you’re always in good hands with Executive Chef and hometown Food Network Star Luca Della Casa. Watch Goodtaste in the kitchen with Luca as he creates a Texas Shrimp & Tomato Salad that we also have the recipe for…

The Cookhouse has a menu that goes beyond Cajun and Creole. Led by Chef Pieter Sypesteyn, menus change seasonally, yet remain centered around the culture complexity in New Orleans cuisine. See the Dinner Menu here.

Discover an intimate and elegant dining environment at Fig Tree Restaurant , located in historic La Villita. The patio [below] is also one-of-a-kind, with white lights which accent the surrounding wrought iron fencing. We have the recipe for their Crab Cakes , made with Gulf Lump Crab, Green Goddess sauce and Frisée lettuce.

Any lovers looking for a puro San Antonio experience, go no further than La Margarita in Market Square – Home of the Original Sizzling Fajitas! Goodtaste caught up with resident chef, Cariño Cortez, to sample some of La Margarita’s most noteworthy eats . Entrées like the Oysters La Margarita and their popular Ceviche.

The award-winning Bliss off S. Presa in downtown SA offers contemporary American cuisine with a Southern influence. It’s another one that has an AMAZING patio. The menu adapts to seasonal changes and right now their Valentine’s Day menu remains a mystery. Diners are encouraged, however, to create a multi-course experience based on appetite and desire with an ever-changing selection of appetizers, salads and entrées.

Myron’s Prime Steakhouse (in both San Antonio & New Braunfels) is open every evening serving Chicago Prime beef, the top 20% of the USDA Prime beef in the United States! Named by San Antonio Magazine as the best steakhouse in town, DO save room for dessert with this recipe for Myron’s Bananas Foster .

Cured at Pearl has already received much acclaim under the direction of Chef/Owner Steven McHugh. Now this charming haven for hand-crafted cured meats is up for a national award from the National Restaurant Association. Happy Hour is a delight, Mon-Sat from 3-6 pm with 1/2 off all drinks. Learn Charcuterie 101 from the Chef himself…

Another staple of the Pearl Brewery is Arcade Midtown Kitchen . Think of it as “a mix of Pearl’s historic past and San Antonio’s casual culinary sophistication.” Seasonal New American fare, along with killer craft cocktails make this place a hit. Chef Jesse Perez is the inspired owner behind what is quite possibly my favorite Old Fashioned Red Velvet Cake in town, made with Bourbon Vanilla Anglaise.

Pearl Brewery’s final entry on our list is Il Sogno Osteria. This five-star Italian café features a great list of wines, cheeses and primi pastas. Kick things off at IL Sogno Osteria with their Olive Tapenade or Asparagus and Truffled Egg Salad – that’s steamed asparagus with truffled egg, salty ricotta and bacon! For your main squeeze? The Wild Mushroom Lasagna is a flagship menu item, as is their famous Nutella Tart.

Home of legendary steaks and celebrated seafoods, Bohanan’s is the right blend of Texas spirit and Old World charm. In the past, it’s been selected by the San Antonio Express-News as being the Most Romantic Restaurant in the Alamo City. They also proudly serve HeartBrand Akaushi Beef here…the best beef money can buy. It’s also the healthiest! Have a drink on us this Valentine’s Day – like Bohanan’s classic Old Fashioned [below].

Walnut pieces 25g (1oz)
Walnut oil 1 tbsp
Extra virgin olive oil 2 tbsp
Lime 1, juice only
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
Par-baked rolls 2, warmed, to serve, optional

1 Put the prepared salad and chicory leaves in a bowl. Add the pears to the bowl with the Stilton followed by the walnut pieces. Drizzle with the oil and lime juice, mix gently and season with salt and pepper.

Cod loin is a really meaty fish, which works brilliantly with Pancetta. The veg is cooked in the oven with it, so all you need to do is heat a pre-prepared packet of rice or mixed grains and your whole meal is done.

Pulling off Easter Dinner– A few tips to keep it simple.

Hosting a large family dinner can be a daunting task, especially at a holiday. There are a few things you can do to ensure that the day goes smoothly and guarantee that you enjoy the day too. No one signs up to host a family meal saying, “Sure, I’d love to have you come over to a enjoy a stress-filled, resentful, exhausting nightmare together.” But, this is what these days are for some frazzled hosts.

This post was inspired by a hopeful co-worker who popped into my classroom this week to ask for help. She is hosting Easter dinner for her entire family for the first time ever. She was feeling intimidated, but hopeful that with a few suggestions, she could pull it off. I gave her some tips and a sold menu, and she left work on Friday feeling determined and optimistic. After seeing her relief, I thought it would be a good idea to share them with all of you.

1. The Menu

My co-worker had the challenge of incorporating traditional favorites, but accommodating a family member who is vegetarian and a family member who is vegan. Here is what we came up with:

Honey Glazed Spiral Ham— Don’t be afraid to go with a store-bought ham. They are very tasty and easy to make.

Oven Baked Risotto— This is a crowd favorite, and if made with vegetable stock & a butter alternative, it will please both the vegetarian and vegan. Additionally, it’s a sophisticated alternative to potatoes.

Quiche– A quiche is a nice option for vegetarians, and it works for meals throughout the day. Go plain, or add variety with different vegetables.

Clementine Balsamic Glazed Carrots— Roasted whole carrots are a beautiful symbol of the spring season. Not to mention, the flavor is the perfect complement to the sweet ham.

Garlicky Green Beans— Toss some skinny fresh green beans with olive oil, sea salt, and fresh minced garlic. Saute until bright green and slightly tender. Remove from heat, and transfer to a serving bowl quickly so they don’t over cook.

Spinach and Strawberry Quinoa Salad— Adding cooked & cooled quinoa is a great way to add texture and update this classic salad.

2. Appetizers

My advice is to limit appetizers when hosting a large sit-down dinner. The first reason is practical. Since you are spending so much time, energy, and money on this meal, you don’t want your guests to fill up on snacks before dinner. The second reason is procedural. You will be far less stressed as a cook if you are not trying to prepare appetizers when you really need to be devoting your time and energy to the main course. I would suggest a simple cheese and cracker plate and some fresh fruit. Fruit is a great option because if hungry kids ruin their appetites with fruit, is that really such a bad thing?

3. Working Ahead

The key to sanity and effective kitchen management is to do as much as you can ahead of time.

  • Set the table
  • Clean the house
  • Shop for groceries
  • Make the quiche and freeze
  • Lay out serving pieces and cookware needed
  • Clean the fridge, creating space for prepped ingredients and leftovers
  • Wash the fruits & vegetables
  • Do all dishes and run the dishwasher. Be sure to unload it too!
  • Make quinoa and store in the fridge.
  • Pre-slice the cheese.
  • Defrost the quiche in the fridge.

** Keep up with dishes and cleaning in the kitchen as you are cooking. Staying on top of things and keeping the kitchen clean as you cook will reduce your stress later.
